Marilyn Monroe’s rare nude photos. The last ever photo-shoot which happened weeks before the icon’s death in 1962, will have the most prominent pictures go under the hammer in an event by auction house, Bonhams. The lucky photographer in question was Bert Stern, who had captured them in his camera in June 1962, for the then upcoming issue of the Vogue magazine. They have been aptly titled ‘The last sitting’.
The sale of this set of photographs points out to the already known fact, though more highlighted each time: the Marilyn Monroe may be left us in 1962, but the enigma she still evokes is virtually unparalleled. These photographs, which were taken 6 weeks before her death, should evoke a similar sense of nostalgia and strong desire to own. Amongst the few, there are similar photographs in which Ms. Monroe is shown posing topless. The photograph which we believe would draw the most attention, where the star is seen lying down on the bed, completely nude, with the white bed-sheet covering up her intimate areas. The impromptu look on her face with the white short hair cascading down her face is a sight to behold. But like the most others in the series, the color of the pictures have run-off a bit, but never the less maintained in good condition. They are expected to bring in between $24,395- $39,031, but it would be safe to assume that they will bring more than the mentioned range. We had also mentioned about the black cocktail dress which sold for $348,000 and the famous ‘7-year itch’ dress which sold for $4.6 million, thus coming to the same conclusion. The first time progressive of modern Indian Arts ,Science , Rationality, Awareness , Curiosity,Courage, Persistence
