Sony Xperia Z

MRP : RS. 38990 Features & Specifications: The 5-inch display on the Xperia Z is what Sony calls the “Reality Display”, and boasts of 443ppi. The HTC Butterfly’s SLCD-3 display has the same resolution, but falls slightly short at 441ppi. In terms of real world usage, the Xperia Z’s display is rather good. It is vivid, and brightness levels are fairly adequate. It is slightly reflective, but we are happy to see that Sony has implemented the automatic brightness setting in the Xperia Z, something that was missing in most of the high end Xperia phones from last year. Where the Butterfly’s display has an advantage is in terms of text crispness, and readability of the written word on the display.

Dell XPS 12 Convertible Ultrabook

MRP : RS. 89990 Features & Specifications In terms of power, the Dell XPS 12 Convertible Ultrabook is pretty much the conventional ultrabook. The processor is the Ivy Bridge Intel Core i5-3317U clocking at 1.7GHz, with Turbo Boost taking it to 2.5GHz. We have seen this processor in a lot of ultrabooks since the summer of 2012. There is 4GB RAM along with that. For storage, the Dell XPS 12 Convertible Ultrabook offers a 128GB SSD, which is a fairly quick drive, something that will talk about in detail in the Performance section.

Samsung Series 5 Touch Ultrabook

MRP :RS. 63,300 Features & Specifications This is where all the action is happening. The Series 5 Touch has the Intel Core i5 – 3317U (Ivy Bridge) processor that is fairly common across ultrabooks in this price bracket. The RAM gets a boost from 6GB from the non-touch 14-inch version, to 8GB in the new 13-inch Touch version. There is the Intel HD 4000 chip that will make do for the graphics but, but unlike the 14-inch version, the 13.3-inch one does not get a dedicated graphics chip. The 14-inch ultrabook versions alternate between the Nvidia GeForce GT 620M graphics and the AMD Radeon HD 7550M graphics.

Apple iPod Classic 120 GB

Rs. 15,400 This is the 6th generation of the venerable hard drive-based iPod that Apple never fails to include. Although a generation old as we speak, (since the new iPod Classic is already available but not for review at this moment), this series offers unmatched storage. Although the Classic is a decent video player it is aimed at the audiophile who wants to carry his entire collection of music with him. The 1.8-inch hard drive offers 120 GB of storage; more than any other PMP in the market. This means you can carry not just lossy MP3 files, but Apple Lossless (ALAC) files as well, giving audiophiles one less lament about the loss of finer detail that occurs with compression.

Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 (59-341235)

MRP : RS. 53990 Features & Specifications The Z500 (59-341235) version has an Intel Core i5-3210M processor clocking at 2.5GHz, and is paired with 6GB of RAM. In this category, the HP ENVY m6 also has the same Core i5 processor, but the predecessor, the IdeaPad Z580 and the HP Pavilion G6 have the Core i7 processors. Surprisingly, the Z500 performs better than the Core i7 rivals, something that we will illustrate on in the Performance section.

Top 10 Super-Books

Twilight or Star War, your mind may direct you toward films but actually those are the names from top 10 books print in series and every book-series have sold over 100 million copies worldwide. Most of these titles have/had their own film adaptations; good or bad. It is not  only good idea to chose your next reading from top 10 but if you already a fan of film/s then you may discover more in book/s  comparing title of the same in movie format. I personally find it a good idea to go with both: movie and book of same title like in case of The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

LG Optimus G E975

MRP : RS. 30990 The Optimus G is a great performer at Rs. 30,990. The preloaded skin has enough going for it that it can give the likes of TouchWiz and Sense UI a run for its money. The display of the smartphone is one of the best we have seen in its price range. On the downside, the camera on the Optimus G isn't the best and the build quality lacks polish. If you have a budget of Rs. 30,000 you can definitely add the Optimus G to your consideration list.

Xolo X1000

The Xolo X1000 was announced in a quick 15 minute presentation at its event in Goa yesterday. The smartphone will be available on store shelves from March 21, though is already up for pre-order on Flipkart. We managed to get some hands-on time with Xolo X1000 at the event. Let us get the biggest disappointment of the smartphone out of the way. In a day when flagship smartphones are launched running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean straight out of the box, the X1000 runs on the age old Android 4.0 ICS. But the smartphone will receive the Jelly Bean update.

HTC banking on 'One' smartphone

HTC has launched its newest flagship Android smartphone, the One, in Taiwan for a price of $670 (Rs. 36,700 approx.). While speaking to Digit, HTC revealed that the One would be launched in India in the first half of April; and according to the rumours we’ve heard, you can expect it to be priced around Rs. 48,000 here. Along with Taiwan, HTC was also supposed to launch the One in Singapore but the launch event was cancelled. Analysts have claimed that this is because of supply chain issues while HTC has said that it delayed the launch so that the phone would be launched with a large variety of network operators.

Ubuntu Mobile OS

The smartphone segment will by the end of the year, or early next year, have three new platforms (Firefox OS, Tizen OS, and Ubuntu Mobile OS) competing with the big names in the business (Android, BlackBerry, iOS, Symbian, Windows Phone). This will undoubtedly be an exciting time to be a smartphone enthusiast, with so many options available. Major manufacturers have already expressed interest in the Firefox and Tizen mobile operating system, and it seems (at least according to our poll results) users are expressing much interest in the third.

Wicked Leak l 5-inch quad-core Wammy Passion

Rs. 16,999 WickedLeak has launched the Wammy Passion in the Indian market for Rs. 16,999. The device boasts of a 5-inch IPS display with a 1280x720 pixel resolution. The MediaTek’s MT6589 1.2 GHz quad-core processor powers the smartphone. This is the same processor that powers the recently launched Micromax A116 Canvas HD and the yet to launch Jiyau G4. HP Envy Spectre XT

MRP : RS. 64990 Features & Performance The Intel Core i5-3317U processor clocking at 1.7GHz and 4GB of RAM powers the Spectre XT that we received for review. This is pretty much in line with the ultrabook specifications in this price bracket. The interesting bit is the 128GB SSD that the HP Spectre XT packs in. This gives it a huge performance advantage over the rivals who mostly have an HDD along with an mSATA SSD for caching tasks.

Samsung Series 9 (NP-900X3C)

MRP : RS. 102990 Features & Specifications No shortage of power on the Series 9. This is powered by an Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7-3517U processor and paired with 4GB of RAM. This processor clocks at 1.9GHz and Turbo Boost takes it up to 2.4GHz. For your data storage, the Series 9 comes with a 256GB SSD. This drive is one of the fastest ones around, something that we will explain in greater detail in the performance section.

HP Envy dv6-7206tx

M RP : RS. 65705 Features & Specifications: For a machine that costs a lot of money, the dv6-7206tx does have a fairly well stocked specification sheet. This is powered by an Intel Core i7-3630QM quad core clocking in at 2.4GHz. Compare this to the Intel Core i7-3612QM that clocked at 2.1GHz in the IdeaPad Z580 and the Vaio S that has a dual core Intel Core i5-3210M processor clocked at 2.5GHz. On paper, you would assume that the HP Envy dv6 would be the quickest machine, considering it seems to have the numbers on its side on the spec sheet. Additionally, both the dv6 and the Z580 have 8GB of RAM each, so that is an even platform.

Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo

Rs. 7,000. Samsung may be planning to launch a new budget Android smartphone in May which will be sold in both single-SIM and dual-SIM variants. Samsung is expected to launch the phone in silver colour, although more colours could be launched later.

Google Nexus 4 smartphone

PRICE : $349. While Microsoft hosted its windows Phone 8 announcement in sunny California, Google’s October 29th event had to be called off due to Hurricane Sandy that is currently ravaging the East Coast. However, that did not stop the Mountain View company from letting its products loose on the world. Hot on the heels of the MS announcement, Google has officially unveiled a bunch of eagerly awaited products, namely the Google Nexus 4 (made by LG), a premium Nexus 10 tablet (made by Samsung) and a refresh of the Nexus 7 tablets.

Asus Transformer AiO Windows PC + Android tablet

Nobody can deny that Asus is a hyper-innovative company, the Ducati of consumer technology, a company that makes products that look like they were mere concept designs an hour back. Staying true to that tradition, Asus showed off the Transformer AiO at CES earlier this year, an Android tablet with a massive 18.4-inch full HD display that when docked turns into a Windows 8 PC. Unlike other Transformer devices from Asus, this looked more conceptual than something that you could see on store shelves. However, Asus has other ideas because the Taiwanese company has revealed that the Transformer AiO will be launched globally on April 12 for $1,299 (Rs. 71,000 approx.).

Samsung Galaxy Note III to come with a 5.9-inch screen

If certain information on the Internet is to be believed, then the South Korean electronics giant, Samsung could be working on a 5.9-inch phablet, which might just be the Note III. The device is said to have an OLED display and will go on sale later this year. Reports also suggest that the unnamed 5.9-inch phablet will be powered by the Exynos octa-core chipset, which was shown off at CES 2013 and is also speculated to be powering the Samsung Galaxy S IV.

Samsung NX1100 mirrorless ILC

The Samsung NX1000 has been a very dear product for Samsung, after going through two generations of refinement. It’s been in the international market for less than a year and in fact, it has just entered the Indian market (we'll have our review of the NX1000 soon), but looks like Samsung is quite eager to share with us the next version of their mirrorless ILC flagship camera - the NX1100.

Sony Xperia Z

MRP : RS. 38990 Features & Specifications The 5-inch display on the Xperia Z is what Sony calls the “Reality Display”, and boasts of 443ppi.

LG Optimus G

LG Optimus 4X HD. Christened the LG Optimus G, the smartphone has a lot going for it. To start with, the Optimus G is not only LG’s flagship premium smartphone, but it is also the device that was used as a reference design while the South Korean electronics giant was making the Nexus 4 for Google. The Optimus G runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with a 4.7-inch IPS display that boasts of a 1280×768 pixel resolution. The Optimus G is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Krait processor (Qualcomm MDM9615/APQ8064 chipset), 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 320 GPU. The Optimus G comes with 32GB of built-in storage but doesn't support external memory cards.
