WickedLeak has launched the Wammy Passion in the Indian market for Rs. 16,999. The device boasts of a 5-inch IPS display with a 1280x720 pixel resolution. The MediaTek’s MT6589 1.2 GHz quad-core processor powers the smartphone. This is the same processor that powers the recently launched Micromax A116 Canvas HD and the yet to launch Jiyau G4. The Wammy Passion also has 1GB of RAM.
In terms of other specifications, the WickedLeak Wammy Passion has the Power VR SGX544 GPU, 4GB of ROM with expandable storage up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. It also supports GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and an FM radio. The rear of the smartphone houses an 8MP camera and the front has a 5MP camera. It also supports dual-SIM functionality. The Passion also sports a 2100mAh battery. The smartphone supports a large array of audio and video formats including MP3/WMA/OGG/AAC/WAV/FLAC, AVI/MP4/FLV/3GP/MKV/WMV and more. The rear of the smartphone has an 8MP camera and the front has a whopping 5MP camera.

After the success of the Micromax Canvas HD, which was the first smartphone to sport the MediaTek's MT6589 processor, it looks like other budget smartphone manufacturers are looking to implement the same SoC in their smartphone.
Another budget smartphone that has a quad-core processor is the Karbonn Smart Titanium 1. Qualcomm S4 Play MSM8225Q quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with the Adreno 203 GPU.
