"I don't have a point to prove" - Kareena Kapoor

After two back to back heavy duty films Satyagraha andHeroine, Kareena Kapoor is back in a much lighter avatar with Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. With the film running in theatres, the lady settles down for a quick tête-à-tête.

With Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, you are back in a familiar set up of Dharma Productions. It must be fun, isn't it?
With people like Karan Johar, Imran Khan and Punit Malhotra, it always is. See, the thing is I am in that stage of my career where I want to work with people and be on the sets where I am comfortable. I want to be in an ambience which I love and enjoy being around. I don't have a point to prove to anyone.

The Karan factor must have been comforting too. After all, the two of you have been associated on six films now.
Of course when Karan is around, you know that the project he would back will be a class product with good marketing and release. He is a powerhouse person in the industry. In Gori Tere Pyaar Mein too, he and Punit have ensured that all elements of a family entertainer are in there with some nice songs, comedy and dance.

After Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, you would have wanted something better in the offering with Imran, right?
See, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu was like an English film and there was a first time director (Shakun Batra), it was a different kind of film. Everyone loved mine and Imran's pairing together. Hence I was tempted to come together with Imran. Yes, the film hadn't done the business of 200 crore but then every film cannot be with a 200 crore success. Now Gori Tere Pyaar Mein is an out and out love story. This is a genre where Imran just fits in.

Still, the film is understandably centred entirely on you with many expecting that yet again, it would be a reprise of Geet [Jab We Met] in the proceedings. Is that true?
No, not really, because Dia is not Geet! Like Geet was very childish but Dia is very sure about what she wants. She is a social activist and is a dramatically different character. There is no similarity at all and the set up too required for me to come up with a much mature kind of a performance.

Meanwhile Saif too is doing all of that and more in Bullett Raja which releases next Friday. How are you finding his rugged look and earthy act in the film?
I am sure he would be fabulous out there. He has always been doing different roles, and from something likeLove Aaj Kal to Bullett Raja, people are going to see him in a different avatar altogether.
